The Siren's Reclamation
A poem for the voice I no longer hide - emerging wild and soft from the tides.
I am no longer the one who shrinks down low so everyone can shine.
I am no longer the one who can only find solace in performing on stage wearing a mask.
I am no longer the one who has to hide,
See me emerging - wild and soft.
Look at me straight in the eye
See me for who and what I am becoming
Not what I was when I let my own voice drown out
Like a tidal wave I am reborn
From the depths if the sea I rise
Fiery passion, no longer settling
This is my true voice ready to sing
To soar, to captivate, to resonate.
I know what I want, and that wanting is not a sin
I know what I need, and that needing is not a burden
I know I have only scraped the surface.
The moonlight shimmers off of the waters
Beckoning me into the fathomless depths
Will I drown or will I learn the flow of the currents?
How deep are you willing to go?
To hear your inner voices,
To touch the sanctity of your inner peace,
To truly see who you are -
Who you were born to be.
